Wheel Lock Pistol, circa 1632

The wheellock (or wheel-lock resp. wheel lock) is a friction-wheel mechanism which causes sparks for firing a firearm. It was the first self-igniting firearm and followed the matchlock. The name comes from a rotating steel wheel which provides ignition. It was invented around AD 1450 in Germany, used alongside the matchlock but was later repkaced by the snaphance and the flintlock.

The original of this authentic replica dates around 1632 and was most likely used in the Thirty Years's War. It has a single steel barrel and comes with a steel wrench to tension the spring in then lock.

Our firearm replicas are intended for decoration or re-enactment. The muzzles have not been drilled, so the weapon is not functional. A professional gunsmith can drill the muzzle and cahnge this non-functional decoration pistol into a real firearm.

A beautiful item for every collection and an indispensable accessory for re-enactors.
